// backend systems · Java stack · production-grade
I build robust, scalable backend systems on the Java stack — engineered for production, designed to last.
I graduated in 1999 as a Master in Automation Engineering. My first years were spent writing software for industrial machines — close to the metal, real-time, unforgiving. That foundation shaped how I think about systems: correctness first, performance matters, nothing ships broken.
Java found me early and never let go. Over 25 years I've worked on projects that genuinely challenged me — fleet telematics, global e-commerce at scale, IoT platforms for the energy sector, hospital systems, home automation. Different domains, always the same discipline.
Techni-Consulting BV is my independent consultancy, available for short and long-term missions across Belgium and remotely across Europe.
Senior developer at Digitaal Vlaanderen, the Flemish government agency driving digital transformation for public services across Belgium.
Developing a global Operation and Maintenance system, including architecture and infrastructure, for one of the world's largest energy companies.
Senior Technical Lead and Architect on the back-end teams building a worldwide e-commerce platform for the consumer electronics brand.
Internal workflow and BPM application streamlining business processes with integrations across multiple platforms via SOAP, REST, socket communication and ESB. Also acted as Scrum Master.
One of the main developers and architects of Fleetworks, a web-based track & trace application built on an open telematics framework with custom-developed hardware.
Integrated the Laipac bracelet, ESPA products and the Amicimi app into emergency-room software.
Web-based back-office for installers to update domotics configuration remotely, plus a JavaFX client for end-customers to control and monitor their domotics system.
Hospital platform including a web back-office for patient registration and fall-detection alarms, an Android patient app with room automation and nurse calls, and an Android staff app for receiving alarms.
iOS and Android remote app plus web back-office to control and monitor the Luxom home automation system.
Production-grade APIs, services, and integrations built on the Java/Spring stack. Domain-driven design, clean code, full test coverage — from sprint zero to go-live.
Microservices decomposition, event-driven design, cloud-native patterns. Deliberate architectural decisions that scale without accruing debt.
Independent review of your codebase, architecture, or team practices. Hidden risks, performance bottlenecks, and opportunities — with an actionable report.
